10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Undertaker

Very, very few people have ever gone over The Undertaker cleanly throughout his WWE career. It’s a very exclusive list, featuring the likes of Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar, and well, The Great Khali and Kozlov too.

Khali’s first opponent in WWE was against The Dead Man, as Vince McMahon had somehow forgotten how terrible that entire Giant Gonzalez feud was over a decade earlier. Unlike Gonzalez, though, Khali actually put Taker down without the use of an ether rag.

At Judgment Day 2006, the two were having a lousy eight minute match, when after a big boot and a kick to the head from Khali, Taker was knocked out and pinned. I think Tazz spoke for us all when he yelled, “what the hell? Are you kidding me?” Maybe instead of trying to Tombstone Taker in all those matches, Kane should have just gone for a little kick to the noggin.

Well, at least Khali held a World Title, so other big names can also lay claim to jobbing to him. Not so much for Kozlov.

On an episode of SmackDown in 2009, Undertaker battled Vince's newest Eastern European menace in a match. Going in we assumed it would be a typical Taker squash, but as he went up for his Old School top rope attack, he was yanked back into the ring with a powerslam and pinned. It was a hugely shocking moment for all the wrong reasons.

Neither Khali or Kozlov became anywhere close to credible main event heels, so nothing good came of putting them over one WWE's greatest legends. Along with Vince McMahon, Taker would probably like to forget these matches ever happened.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
