10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Undertaker's American Badass Run
10. Getting Eliminated By Maven At The 2002 Royal Rumble
If you look at the Undertakers Royal Rumble history, you know that he has a pretty good record for eliminations and survival. But more importantly, whenever he was eliminated, it was always be someone who was already a big star or whom WWE was interested in pushing. Lets look at his record year by year, before the year things got strange: 1991: Eliminated by Hawk & Animal 1992: Eliminated by Hulk Hogan 1993: Eliminated by Giant Gonzalez (not an official entrant, but WWE were trying to make a big deal out of him) 1997: Eliminated by Stone Cold Steve Austin 2001: Rikishi (who was being built as a main-eventer at the time) In all of these cases, those who eliminated the Undertaker were credible Superstars, and his elimination was a big deal. So who eliminated Undertaker in at the 2002 event? Maven, the first male winner of WWEs Tough Enough. It was bad enough that Taker was eliminated by such a green rookie; what made it worse was that Maven eliminated him in a cheap fashion, by taking advantage of a distracted Undertaker, who was already fighting the Hardyz and Lita. It should come as no surprise that WWE doesnt want you to remember that this happened. Undertaker was eliminated by one of the newest and most inexperienced wrestlers in the company at the time, instead of someone who was a much bigger star, as was the norm for him. Maven became nothing more than a lower mid-carder before leaving, which made the elimination even more useless in hindsight.
