This may come as a surprise to some, but reality television is not often like, well, reality. It should surprise nobody that this applies to WWE, as their endeavor into Total Divas ended up appearing as faux-reality on more than one occasion. While their may have been bigger instances of stirring up drama for television, one with real life repercussions centered on the wedding of Jimmy Uso and Naomi.

The wedding of Jonathon Fatu and Trinity McCray took place on 16 January 2014 and was the focal point of the fifth episode of the shows second season. The two were married in a small ceremony in Hawaii attended by family and close friends, with one noticeable admission. Jimmy's father Rikishi was absent at the wedding, something that was explained as Papa Uce not supporting the two marrying.

Due to Trinity not being of Samoan decent, Rikishi said on the show he would not attend the wedding. After the airing of the nuptials, both Jimmy and his Hall of Fame father have publicly stated this was something show runners had them play up for the cameras.
