Everyone loves a rags to riches story, right?

How about rags to double world champion and rich beyond one's wildest dreams?

Back in 2012, Conor McGregor relinquished his Cage Warriors titles to sign with the UFC. He wasn't making a whole heck of a lot in the fight game at that point, and to even make it to the UFC, he actually had to pick up a welfare cheque for the princely sum of €180 in late March of that year.

A week later, he had his UFC base pay, win bonus, and a $60,000 US knockout of the night bonus as the icing on the cake. From that point on, he never looked back. He'd go on to become the highest paid fighter in both UFC and MMA history.

Goodbye welfare. Hello to a lot of questionable fur coats, fancy cars, and fine dining. He even set his family up so his dad could retire.
