10 Things You Didn't Know About Conor McGregor

6. He Has Held Two Belts Simultaneously... Twice!

Conor McGregor became the first man to hold two championships in the UFC simultaneously earlier this month at the historic UFC 205. Even though it didn't last long (this week he was forced into relinquishing the featherweight title, as he plans to take time off with a child on the way), it was a momentous occasion in the history of MMA.

Interestingly, however, this is not the first time McGregor has worn double gold.

Back in 2012, prior to joining the UFC, he won the Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight titles. He didn't defend either, instead signing on with the much bigger UFC and becoming a huge star, but the fact is, McGregor has been a double champ twice!

That's also unheard of in MMA, obviously. Just another one for the record books.

Another tidbit: McGregor is currently seeking to renegotiate his contract with the UFC in wake of its $4 billion dollar sale to WME-IMG. Should they fail to come to terms and McGregor simply retire, it would mean that he never defended a single one of his championships.
