3. He Pitched A Backlot Brawl Redo With Cody Rhodes

Originally intended to be Goldust vs. Razor Ramon, the 'Hollywood Backlot Brawl' at WrestleMania XII had Roddy Piper replacing the latter. The match has become infamous, largely because of the overt homophobia (Piper beating the snot out of Goldust for his lifestyle choices) and a bizarrely tasteless allusion to the OJ Simpson car chase; WWE even used footage from OJ's police chase, claiming it was Piper on his way to the arena.

Goldust considers the match a career highlight, so much so that he pitched a repeat to WWE whilst feuding with brother Cody Rhodes in 2013. Cody was game, but WWE didn't think much of the idea and weren't too hot on continuing the feud into WrestleMania at all. Neither brother could convince Vince McMahon to green light the match.

After being shot down during 'Mania season, Goldust tried again around SummerSlam the same year, but to no avail. According to Goldust's interview with Wrestling Inc, he was only really interested in working with Cody if it was going to be at WrestleMania.
