Jinder Mahal was released by World Wrestling Entertainment in 2014, and it came as something of a surprise to him, mostly because 3MB had been used frequently on WWE programming over the previous few months. This had been mostly in comedy matches against Los Matadores and El Torito, but used they were.

To put the absurdity of Mahal's title win into context, it's worth noting that his last match before his 2014 release came against Torito an an episode of SmackDown. It was as throwaway as it gets, with Michael Cole and JBl spending most of it discussing Torito's 'tail' on commentary.

El Torito won in just over a minute with a moo-nsault (way funnier than a bullsault) that pretty much entirely missed Mahal. And now he's WWE champion. What a comeback!

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
