Ronda Rousey wasn't just a late talker - she didn't talk for the first six years of her life!

Rather than just being a late bloomer or incredibly shy, this stemmed from a medical condition caused by being born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. That resulted in apraxia of speech, something not immediately identified. No one initially knew what was wrong with Rousey, and it was believed she had a learning disability.

Eventually, however, she was given a correct diagnosis, and her parents packed up and moved to Jamestown, North Dakota, in order to work with Minot State University speech therapists familiar with their daughter's condition.

Today? Rousey's actually an excellent speaker on the mic, and has appeared in several major motion pictures. Not bad for someone who didn't talk for her first six years!
