Post-Montreal Screwjob, Neidhart left the WWF and sought solace with Bret Hart over in WCW. In the interview with 3 Count Wrestling, he said that he couldn't have cared less how the company used him in 1998, because he was making an absolute fortune on guaranteed money.

In the RF Video shoot, Jim added that he inked a three-year deal with the promotion that was worth double what his WWF deal was.

To him, it was a no-brainer to take the cash and see what WCW had to offer him. It wasn't like he was going to have a brilliant singles run in the WWF following the dissolution of The Hart Foundation and without back up of friends like Bret and Davey Boy Smith anyway. In the end, it was the best scenario for all involved, even if it didn't lead to much of a memorable run.

That didn't bother Jim. He was happy to be earning guaranteed coin for a lighter schedule, and he secretly had fun teaming with Smith and being out on the road with those he considered family.
