10 Things You Didn’t Know About Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger
5. Kishin Liger
At several points over his career, Jushin Liger has embraced a more demonic, aggressive side known as Kishin Liger.
The first time that Kishin Liger (literally!) reared his head was in October 1996 in a battle against The Great Muta. After Muta had ripped off Liger's iconic mask, the legendary junior heavyweight raised his head to display a painted face and an erratic new attitude. Liger would then remove his own bodysuit to display a painted chest, and he'd start to pummel Muta with vicious attacks and even borrowed a page out of his opponent's playbook by spitting mist at Muta.
This new persona became known as Kishin Liger, and Liger would resort to calling upon this twisted personality at several points in the future - most notably in 2006 against Bad Boy Hido, in 2012 against Taichi, and just last September against Minoru Suzuki.
It usually took something special to unleash Kishin Liger, with Hido cutting Liger's hair, Taichi targeting Liger's mask, and Suzuki was another to remove Liger's mask.
Kishin Liger was only used sparingly throughout Jushin Liger's in-ring career, but this more demented and brutal side of Liger sure was effective when the time called for Kishin Liger to be let out to play.
