10 Things You Didn't Know About Bray Wyatt

5. Meet Waylon Mercy

Way back in 1995, veteran wrestler Dan Spivey joined WWE and adopted the name Waylon Mercy, with a gimmick based on Robert De Niro€™s character in Cape Fear (1991). Much like Bray in his earlier years, Waylon wore Hawaiian shirts, had a southern accent, and used a calm yet intensely sinister style of speaking. Both characters are extremely brutal in the ring, using dirty tactics every chance they get and a bugged-out, wide-eyed expression to push the idea that they€™re completely insane. There€™s no doubt that Bray Wyatt€™s character is incredibly unique among most other WWE Superstars today, but it is definitely not the first of its kind. In 2014, during an interview on "Stone Cold€ Steve Austin€™s podcast, Bray revealed that during a trip to the WWE Performance Center, Spivey himself handed the character over to Bray, thus explaining the many similarities.

Josh's work has been seen on Cageside Seats, Yahoo, and The Richest. If it's not pro wrestling, he's definitely thinking about cured meats and/or sushi, but never all three at the same time...that can get weird. Twitter: @HeelDoors
