10 Things You Didn't Know About Brian Christopher

1. Once Handed Back Half His Indy Earnings

It's easy to envision ex-WWE stars milking their fame for all its worth on the indy circuit. Who could blame them? Such stardom is fleeting, and they're the ones used on posters to sell tickets. Surely then, those marquee names should get most of the gate. That wasn't the way Brian Christopher did business.

Shortly after leaving the WWF in 2001, Brian appeared on a Maryland Championship Wrestling card in the small town of Paw Paw, West Virginia. The promoter, Dan McDevitt, wrote on Facebook that he was horrified to learn the show had made pennies, but he was determined to honour Christopher's fee (which was in excess of a "few thousand dollars").

Brian, much to McDevitt's surprise, gave him half back and said he could make it up to him "down the road".

That meant a lot to MCW, and it showed that Brian wasn't a money-grabbing name. He'd been around wrestling his entire life, knew the perils of a poorly-promoted show and realised that McDevitt would be in a hole if he took his full pay.
