6. A Bald Patch Created By Violence

Pointing out bald spots is poor form, it just is. Anyone with a bald spot is going to be all too aware of it, and nobody needs to be reminded of the patch's existence. End of.

In classic contradictory style, Brodie Lee had a bald patch with a difference. His was not the result of age or alopecia areata, not an indication of follicle-issues or hair growth problems. Brodie's bald patch actually came from a particularly violent altercation inside the squared circle, a chair shot so stiff that is practically scalped the man.

The chair shot in question was delivered by ultra-violence pioneer and indie legend Necro Butcher. Brodie and Butcher feuded during the latter's short-run in ROH, and Lee was left with a massive scar following what was either an over-exuberant hit or a veteran being an ass. You decide. Whichever side of the fence you're on, it left Lee with a big ol' scar where his scalp used to be.

Ever the professional, Lee decided to keep the spot as it accentuated the gimmick and added an extra layer to the feud itself. It also fit his jeans and vest look, although he eventually had to tie his hair to cover it up during the Bludgeon Brothers days.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
