Professional wrestling might have made Finn Balor famous, but his sporting roots stretch far beyond the squared circle.

The former NXT Champion had promising careers in both soccer and Gaelic football before deciding to enter the world of wrestling. He played soccer with his local club Wolfe Tone's youth team, but Gaelic football is where he really excelled.

A young Balor played for his local team, Bray Emmets, from under-8s all the way up to senior level. He won a country championship and represented Dublin Schools at the Irish capital's famed Croke Park stadium during this time, but the other sports faded from interest, wrestling took centre stage, and Finn moved to England to find his calling.

Given Gaelic football's obscurity outside of Ireland, he probably made the right choice...
