When Jay Lethal defeated Jay Briscoe to become the new ROH World Champion in June, 2015, his mother and father watched with pride at ringside. Just having his parents there was special to Lethal, but they actually didn't know he was scheduled to bag the belt.

Using an example from years gone by, Bret Hart made sure his parents were watching when he won the WWF Heavyweight Title numerous times. Stu and Helen Hart were clued in on the finish, but that's something Lethal doesn't have to worry about. Incredibly, it's his own parents who don't want to know what's going to happen, because they enjoy watching as fans.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jay said that there was genuine emotion from his parents when their son did win the title.

His father had taken him to his first ever wrestling tryout, even filming portions of the training. That footage is still in Jay's possession today, but it's mind-blowing to think his family don't like having the results of his matches spoiled before they happen.
