Unless you're a walking pro wrestling almanac, then you've probably forgotten that Animal soldiered on when Hawk was fired by the WWF in 1992. He didn't fly solo for long, but it happened - the guy was determined to finish up his contracted dates with the federation before leaving to rehab injuries himself.

That wasn't his last run as a singles star either.

In January 2001, Animal signed with WCW and became an enforcer for Ric Flair's Magnificent Seven stable. He debuted at the Sin pay-per-view under a mask, and then worked as a heavy for Scott Steiner. No, they didn't scant any promoters on live TV, don't worry.

Animal's brief singles run came to an end when Vince McMahon purchased remnants of WCW that March. The WWF didn't transfer Animal's contract over, and he ended up returning to the indy circuit for another reunion with Hawk.
