What a lot of wrestling fans are unaware of, is that current WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Carmella is actually a second-generation superstar.

'Mella's real name is Leah Van Dale, and her father is former wrestler and martial artist Paul Van Dale. He may not have achieved the same in-ring success as his daughter, but Paul had a semi-regular spot as an enhancement talent for the then-WWF during the 1980s and into the '90s.

After weeks of vignettes heralding Razor's impending arrival, it was Paul Van Dale who Razor Ramon made his televised in-ring WWF debut against once the Bad Guy finally started cracking skulls in Vince McMahon's sports entertainment juggernaut.

Ramon had been having WWF matches since May 1992 - competing at live events, TV tapings and in dark matches - but the first Razor match that aired on TV was against Van Dale on the 8 August '92 episode of WWF Superstars. Of course, this contest was a completely one-sided affair, with Ramon quickly putting his opponent away with his Diamond Death Drop, which had now been renamed as the Razor's Edge.

Likewise, this means that Paul Van Dale was the first person in WWE TV history to have Razor's patented toothpick thrown at him.
