https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBdLhyTYgIw After leaving WWF, Slaughter returned to AWA in 1985, a promotion that had no issues with his multi-year toy deal. It was only after being with the company for a short time that he defeated Larry Zbyszko for the AWA America's Championship, and if you're wondering why you haven't heard of that belt before, it's because no one else had either. Knowing that Sarge was returning, the title was created to cash in on his patriotic gimmick and put him over in front of a new audience. It was only held by two men, by Zbyszko, and by Slaughter, who then proceeded to successfully defend the strap against all comers, including Zbyszko, Boris Zukhov, and Nick Bockwinkel. When Sarge left the AWA in 1986, the title was immediately retired, after a very short tour of duty. Dismissed, AWA America's Championship.
