The idea of the Big Boss Man being a law-abiding warrior who stood for truth and justice was not that far removed from the man himself. Like all of the best wrestling gimmicks, the Big Boss Man was simply Traylor himself with the volume turned up. By all accounts, he was a loving family man who had married his childhood sweetheart and had two daughters. He ran for political office as Commission Chairman for Paulding County in July 2004, and even organized public memorial ceremonies for the victims of 9/11 in 2001 and 2004. Traylor was just a good old Southern boy who was also recognized as being one of the most fan-friendly wrestlers outside the ring, and was always forthcoming with autographs, photo ops and conversations with any fans who approached him.
