10 Things You Didn't Know About The Great Muta

2. He Was Involved In One Of The Most Bizarre Wrestling Angles Of All Time

The Great Muta, as has been established, was basically an über-gimmicked version of the "real" Keiji Mutoh; he performed a lot of the same moves, but, especially in his advancing years, exerted comparatively little effort and developed a fondness for plunder-driven shortcuts.

Over time, the gimmick also became deeply silly; in a proto-Fiend development, if we're still pretending that he "changed" whomever he came into contact with, a wrestler took on a "dark" persona when they were drawn into conflict with Muta. That wrestler was Jushin Liger, who evolved his 'Kishin Liger' alter-ego to match Muta's dark magic.

Moreover, in the niche HUSTLE promotion, which started out as the Japanese scene's answer to sports entertainment, the Great Muta once blew mist into the vagina of a female performer named Yinling. Because the mist contained his sperm, Yinling, via an egg, gave birth to Muta's son: Monster Bono, who was played by Akebono of WWE WrestleMania 21 "fame".

This actually, technically, made a proud grandfather of the Great Kabuki, whom you might remember as one of Mr. Fuji's paid henchmen tasked with taking Lex Luger out of the 1994 Royal Rumble match: Muta was introduced to the nationally televised US audience as Kabuki's son.
