10 Things You Didn't Know About Tommy Dreamer

1. He Used To Work At CBGB€™s...

Tommy Dreamer (who is a fan of hardcore music as well as hardcore wrestling, apparently) used to work at legendary punk club CBGB€™s. At least, he roadied for a few bands that were regulars there. If the name CBGB€™s isn€™t familiar to you, you should know that CBGB€™s (Country Bluegrass & Blues) was a music club in Manhattan, which is famous for launching the careers of many bands and is generally accepted as being the birthplace of punk music. The Ramones famously got their start there in the mid 70€™s, as did a great many others, and, over the years, the club€™s logo, attitude and ideology have become an iconic part of rock n roll history. €œI used to work at CBGB€™s back in the day€, Dreamer explained during a radio interview conducted a few years ago, €œMy best friend had a band called Breakdown, they were a hardcore punk band and I used to be the €˜Little Guido€™ for them and roadie for them. All the metalheads and skinheads would be doing their stuff and there was one €˜Big Guido€™ standing on the stage, throwing people off (...) it was pretty funny€. ...So there you have it; ten things you (probably) didn€™t know about the one, the only, Tommy Dreamer. In conclusion, after watching Tommy Dreamer for years, from his gore-splattered ECW days, to his stint as the Attitude Era€™s Steve Lombardi and onwards to his present career twilight as a venerated veteran in TNA and the indies, this particular fan is still left fascinated and awestruck, (in approximately equal measure) by the life and career of Tommy Dreamer, a man forever in love with pro wrestling.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
