2. His Politics
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t59rItDve1Q Wrestlers and politics (actual politics, not the backstage kind) - that's a pretty volatile combination which has had mixed results in the past. You need only look at the fortunes of Jesse Ventura, Linda McMahon and Jerry Lawler to see how differently it can turn out when wrestlers run for office. Val Venis hasn't decided to make a play at becoming a senator or mayor just yet, but he has been very outspoken regarding his political beliefs. Val is a libertarian, or perhaps that should be 'Freetarian', a term he coined to properly express his political persuasion. Speaking to SLAM Wrestling in 2010, Val said:
Freetarian is just a word that I came up with - I'm a Libertarian and very much pro-freedom and liberty, and pro limited government [...] When I came out of high school, I guess you could say that I was a left-wing socialist [...] There isn't one thing that a government does, that it doesn't do through coercion, intimidation, and force. That's incompatible with freedom, incompatible with liberty, and incompatible with what the founding fathers of our country wanted. The government can indoctrinate anything it wants into its citizenry. It's a scary thought.
It might all sound a little 'tinfoil hat conspiracy theory' but Val is very serious about his political beliefs and has wrote books on the subject. WWE star and Venis friend Kane is also a libertarian and has made overtures about entering politics once he retires.
