10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1990

4. The Curse Of Wrestlemania VI

Last time, we talked about the Curse of Wrestlemania 7. What's even more incredible is that the previous year's Wrestlemania is even worse, despite only being a year older. With the deaths of Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper this past year, the number of wrestlers on the Wrestlemania 6 card who are no longer with us is staggering. There were 36 male and female wrestlers who wrestled on the card, and of those 36, 14 are dead. That's nearly 40% of the competitors. There are full matches where every wrestler involved has passed on. The tag team match with Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire (with Miss Elizabeth in their corner) against Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri features all five members of the match as deceased. Only five of the 14 matches have both competitors still alive. As a comparison, of the 44 starters of the 1990 Superbowl (San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos), only one is dead.
