10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1995

1. Undertaker Vs. Kane Happened Three Years Before WWE

The "first" singles match between the Undertaker and Kane was promoted at WrestleMania XIV on March 29, 1998 - but in reality, it was not the first meeting of the storyline "brothers".

Then working as 'Unabomb', Kane first wrestled 'Taker when the latter was asked to fulfil the working relationship between the WWF and Smoky Mountain Wrestling at SMW SuperBowl of Wrestling on August 4, 1995.

In an amusing trivia note, while Dave Meltzer did not personally watch the show, relying on fan reports to drive his star ratings, Undertaker Vs. Unabomb was "awarded" **. Meltzer wrote in the August 14 WON that:

"Most [in attendance] reported being pleasantly surprised with how hard the WWF wrestlers worked, in particular Undertaker, who several remarked had a better match with the green Unabomb than people have seen him have on a big show in years."

The match was said to have been better than the big Undertaker Vs. Kane "first"-time meeting match at WrestleMania XIV, which Dave did watch, scoring it *1/2. Dave went lower on the nothing match at 'Mania XX (*1/4). The Unforgiven 1998 'Inferno' match fared better, at **3/4, but the dismal, endless 2010 retread series on pay-per-view - spanning Night of Champions, Hell In A Cell and Bragging Rights - maxed out at *3/4 and crapped out at 1/2*. Every match in that trilogy was gimmicked - No Holds Barred, Hell In A Cell, Buried Alive respectively - so they were given every chance to hide their lumbering chemistry.

What's the deal: is Dave Meltzer biased against WWE?

Or is Glenn Jacobs simply the worst working big man of all time?
