1. Vince McMahon Counted Staff To Break His Record

In a year full of new shows, new Champions and the aforementioned "New Era", WrestleMania 32 was engineered to set a new record Vince McMahon had coveted for years.

The announcement that the company would be running the ginormous AT&T stadium came with a cast-iron guarantee that WWE were about to announce a six-figure attendance for the first time in their history. The problem came when they had neither the card nor roster to do it.

A series of injuries plagued the event, with a host of talents missing the chance to perform in front of what still stood to be the legitimate biggest crowd ever. Shane McMahon, of all people, returned in February to finally give an answer to the question of just who would fight The Undertaker and generated a small surge. Beyond the 'Boy Wonder', things looked bleak for the magic 100k, until McMahon decided to simply treat the paid attendance figure like a fire safety check.

As he put it after the fact;

"We were proud to set our attendance record of over 100,000, which includes, by the way, ushers and ticket takers and all of that. It wasn't 101,000 paid, but nonetheless, it was a record for us."

No wonder they were trying to move towards a new era in 2016 - the old one was starting to feel carny as f*ck.
