10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE SummerSlam

4. WWE Versus Jackass Supposed To Happen In 2007

No, the Jeff Tremaine produced Swerved is not the WWE's first dealing with the Jackass crew. Back on the October 16th 2006 Raw, Steve-O and Chris 'Party Boy' Pontius were memorably beaten down by Umaga (who was legitimately p***ed that Steve-O ignored the script and laughed instead of selling the attack). WWE planned to turn that incident into a major angle in the summer of 2007. The Jackass boys, including Pontius, Steve-O, Johnny Knoxville, Wee Man and Bam Margera, were set to clash with Umaga and possibly some other WWE stars in a big hardcore stunt match at SummerSlam. Then the Benoit tragedy happened and the MTV stars got cold feet. Shane McMahon, who had been the brains behind the angle (to start at the Great American Bash PPV), was said to be very disheartened by their decision to pull out. The most incredible thing about this whole scenario? The Jackasses were booked to go over Umaga on the PPV. Incredible.
