Give 99.9% of wrestling fans some paper and a pen, ask them to scribble out a WWE logo and there's a fair chance you'll get the "scratch" version. It's iconic, and will always be the definitive logo to some folks. That "scratch" look debuted for the first time at Survivor Series.

The WWF aired a video hyping "Attitude" shortly before the main event between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart (a drawn out, humdrum affair during which nothing of note happened; OK, enough of this joke!). The traditional block/"New Generation" motif was used as a watermark on the actual event though.

Not for long.

One vignette changed everything. The WWF embraced their spirited new look, and the block style was firmly yesterday's news. "Scratch" would hold up until WWE remodelled the logo into something else modern in 2014. Select portions of the wrestling community still aren't over that one.

The logo you love was first spotted at Survivors.
