Today, WWE fans have content coming out of their ears. As if Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and NXT weren't enough, there's also monthly pay-per-views, numerous other specials and bags of content to digest via the WWE Network. 1990 plays part in that now, but things couldn't have been more different back then.

In 1990, the WWF presented a scant four pay-per-view events. January had the Royal Rumble, April had WrestleMania VI, August hosted SummerSlam and November saw the coming of the Survivor Series. This means there was at least a two month gap between each super event, keeping fans hungry and maintaining healthy interest.

Of course, the aforementioned Saturday Night's Main Event shows did pad things out a little, but the fact remains 1990 had a whole lot less content than fans receive now.

Far from a glaring negative, this actually helped make things appear more special. Events had to be savoured, pay-per-views in particular cherished, because it was going to be months before the big feuds were settled in the ring again.
