Pat McAfee was revealed as Randy Orton's accomplice on the latest episode of SmackDown, and a lot of people watching don't know how to feel about it. Actually, that might not be true - social media has been blowing up with cries of, 'WTF?!' since McAfee hoofed Cody Rhodes in the balls then cut a scathing worked shoot promo on WWE's current product.

The outspoken announcer has been away from WWE for a while, but said he feels sick every single time he turns his TV on to watch Raw or SmackDown. In this storyline, Pat believes that Triple H and other members of management should frame the entire company around Randy, not guys like Cody.

As critics have pointed out, none of this makes much sense. It certainly doesn't resonate that McAfee is the one standing up for the legacy of Orton (there's no history between them), and the whole thing just seems to have come out of left field without any rhyme or reason.

Amongst other things, Pat bashed WWE for failing to sell out WrestleMania 42 and pointed to SmackDown's recent low ratings. Yeah, that might not be the best idea in the world. It rarely works well when WWE themselves start saying, 'WE SUCK HAHAHAHA' like they deserve some kind of praise for realising things haven't been going swimmingly on the creative side.

Live crowds continue to cheer Orton and boo Cody (for the most part) regardless of what happens in the feud, and that's a problem. Usually, McAfee might actually work in a heel hype man/manager role, but WWE refuse to read the room here.
