10 Things You Learn From Watching 1994 On The WWE Network
9. Owen Hart's Promo Botch Didn't Affect His Feud With Bret
Writing in his critically-acclaimed autobiography, Bret Hart claimed that he had to convince his boss to book a feud between he and his younger brother. Vince McMahon seemingly didn't view Owen Hart as a top guy, but was eventually talked into the idea of promoting a sibling rivalry for much of 1994 by Bret.
Infamously, Owen booted Bret's injured knee following a match with The Quebecers at the Royal Rumble. Incensed that his older brother had refused to tag him into the bout, Owen turned heel and was handed the chance to explain his actions backstage with Todd Pettengill. That's when he uttered the 'I kicked your leg out from under your leg' line.
Although botching his big verbal moment, Owen still went on to have a sterling feud with Bret. In other words, the promo mistake didn't really have a major impact on the rivalry. Matches at WrestleMania X and SummerSlam remained highlights despite the error.
A lot of people remember Owen's botch, but more herald his matches with Bret as significant. That says it all.
