Kenny Omega may well be the best professional wrestler on the planet today, a fluent Japanese speaker who has assimilated into Japanese culture like no other gaijin, a main event talent who has just taken part in a Meltzer-rated six star match and a multi-time pro wrestling champion, but he is also a huge nerd. This isn't meant as a diss, either.

As mentioned earlier, his wrestling name comes from a character from Final Fantasy VIII. His finisher, the One-Winged Angel, comes from Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth, and whilst The Cleaner name may come from the men and women who clean up after crime scenes, even that has video game connotations in the look and mannerisms.

Omega is as nerdy as pro wrestlers get, a level up from Xavier Woods even. The two faced off on Street Fighter V at the CEO 2016 Fighting Game Championships, with Omega coming out on top. The years of meatheads and extroverts on top are over, and as 2017 unravels, the most important wrestler in the world is a massive, massive nerd.
