6. He's Got An Unusual Nickname
Minoru Suzuki has led an interesting life. As a child, he was actually sickly and scrawny due to a neurological condition, and it was his love of pro wrestling that inspired him to become a strong athlete. Perhaps overcompensating, while he was in Pancrase, he had a reputation as a brutally tough trainer and an angry guy.
When he returned to pro wrestling after retiring from MMA, that became his gimmick. Like Brock Lesnar, he was a legitimate fighter who could strike fear in opponents' hearts before the match even started, but he took a joy in inflicting pain that even Brock doesn't. To this day, the surly Suzuki seems to be at his happiest when he's laughing off an opponent's assault or locking in an armbar over the ropes.
