10 Things You Need To Know About Minoru Suzuki

2. He Went Undefeated For Almost All Of 2015

Even though Minoru Suzuki turned 47 in 2015, it was arguably the best year of his pro career, proving that he ages like wine.

Suzuki's feud with fellow UWF alum Kazushi Sakuraba climaxed at Wrestle Kingdom 9 in a UWF rules match, where Suzuki picked up a submission win. After that, though, Suzuki and his Suzukigun stable invaded Pro Wrestling NOAH, which had formed a working relationship with New Japan. At that point, Suzuki really started to dominate.

Suzukigun won all of the championships in the company, with Suzuki himself beating Naomichi Marufuji to win the GHC Heavyweight Championship. He held the belt through most of the year, defending it against stars like Yoshihiro Takayama and Takashi Suguira.

Finally, at NOAH's Destiny 2015 event in December, Suzuki was slated for another showdown with Marufuji. If Suzuki was victorious, not only would he keep the GHC Title into 2016, but he'd rack up a perfect 2015 - no losses at all. Unfortunately for "The Man with the Worst Personality in the World," though, Marufuji claimed victory and the title that day.
