10 Times AEW Saved Something That STUNK
1. CM Punk

When even the notoriously irascible Jim Cornette praises something as "perfect", you know you're watching history in the making.
CM Punk's long-awaited return to wrestling was, without doubt, the biggest event of the year. As Cornette noted on his podcast, AEW didn't even advertise Punk's return yet still sold out an arena just on the rumour of him being there.
Now that's star power; even if Roman Reigns would disagree.
Putting it bluntly, CM Punk's seven-year absence from professional wrestling was a glaring blemish on the face of the the sport. One of the most over talents of this or any other generation, Punk's decision to walk away from the business was a huge indictment towards WWE's treatment of its talent. As the man himself put it, "I was never gonna get healthy physically, mentally, spiritually, or emotionally, staying in the same place that got me sick in the first place”. Given all that, watching CM Punk come back to wrestling with a smile on his face has been legitimately heartwarming.
Fans may argue whether CM Punk or Sting had the more emotional return, but there's one thing's we can all agree on: It's damn good to have them back.
