10 Times Blood & Guts Made Wrestling AWESOME

4. 'Taker Mauls Maven (WWE Royal Rumble 2002)

Royal Rumble 2002 was the most memorable night of Maven's career, with the Tough Enough winner shockingly eliminating the legendary Undertaker from the titular bout.

Maven looked as shocked as 'The Deadman' was p*ssed when he dropkicked the big man out of the bout. It was set up to be a big, star-making moment for the young hopeful, and while Maven's career didn't quite pan out as he might have hoped, he'll always have the elimination on his highlight reel.

A vicious post-match assault was essential to show just how furious Undertaker was that he'd been put out by a rookie. Colour was deemed necessary, and necessary it was, as Maven was reduced to a bloody, wobbling pulp as 'The American Badass' mauled him all over the building, even throwing his face through a glass popcorn stand. In the Rumble, Maven got lucky; beyond it, he got eviscerated.

There's a funny story behind the colour. 'Taker instructed Maven to take some Aspirin to thin his blood out, as was common practice, though the up-and-comer was allergic to the medication. Undertaker's solution? Get hammered on Jack Daniels instead, baby.
