10 Times Brock Lesnar Lost Clean

1. Vs John Cena - Extreme Rules 2012

Brock made a surprise return to WWE the night after WrestleMania XXVIII to one of the loudest ovations in RAW history, and immediately gave John Cena an F-5. He was, for all intents and purposes, the same ass-kicking machine that left WWE in 2004, only now he had more legitimacy as an accomplished UFC Champion. As such, everyone was expecting him to demolish John Cena in Brock€™s first WWE match since WrestleMania XX. So imagine the surprise, and subsequent disappointment, of many fans when John Cena defeated Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2012. Essentially, WWE wanted to build Cena as this unstoppable force, and in order to counteract Cena€™s loss to the Rock, they had him defeat Brock Lesnar, in a very good and brutal contest. However, doing so also damaged Lesnar€™s credibility as well. People who watched him in UFC knew he was an absolute monster of a fighter, and he had more legitimacy as a dangerous man than ever before. Yet in his first match in WWE, he lost to John Cena, of whom fans were growing more and more tired. Lesnar wouldn€™t have another match with Cena until SummerSlam 2014, when Lesnar destroyed Cena in one of the most one-sided World Title matches of all time. While that€™s a great way to build Lesnar up as a dangerous force, he should€™ve been booked that way from the start, by demolishing the face of WWE when he returned in 2012. Everyone wanted to see Lesnar beat Cena at Extreme Rules 2012. Instead, fans got to see John Cena win once again, and Lesnar lost a ton of momentum from that one bad booking decision that surprised pretty much the entire WWE Universe.
