10 Times Brock Lesnar Was Just Awesome
3. Working Smaller Opponents
Not enough credit is given to Lesnar for how good he actually is between the ropes.
Due to the success of his Suplex City gimmick, along with his almost unbeatable aura, his matches do tend to run quick and follow a format. HOWEVER... when given the right opponent and situation, Lesnar is one of the best to have ever done this.
Over the past few years, Survivor Series has given us some incredible gems such as Lesnar vs AJ Styles and Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan. Both times, the match stole the show and Lesnar gave both men so much in terms of selling and looking credible in defeat. When Daniel Bryan hit that running knee, come on...you thought it was over, didn't you?
The same can be said for his Royal Rumble match with Finn Balor, where they cleverly used Lesnar's previous issues with diverticulitis to give Balor a fighting chance. Again, Balor came out of the defeat with credibility.
Given the empathy he clearly had working with the likes of Strowman and Ambrose, it's clear that Lesnar needs to be invested in the match and have respect for his opponent.
When both of those align, Lesnar is absolutely tremendous once he steps within those ropes.
