10 Times Children Got Involved In Professional Wrestling

3. The Mass Transit Incident

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maEx2RLu1UI This was one of the darkest days in ECW history. Axl Rotten, partner to Ian, was originally supposed to work a tag match with D-Von Dudley against the New Gangstas, who were comprised of Mustafa Saed and New Jack, at a house show in 1996. When Rotten couldn't make it due to a family emergency, a 19 year-old called Eric Kulas stepped forward. He told Paul Heyman that he had been trained by Killer Kowalski and his father vouched for him. Heyman put him in the match. His wrestling name was Mass Transit. He wasn't trained. He wasn't 19. He was only 17 years old, and terrible things happened to him. Kulas spent the majority of the match being double teamed by the Gangstas, being hit with toasters and garbage bins and chairs. Kulas asked New Jack before the match if he would blade him (cut his forehead in order to cover his face with blood) because he'd never done it before. New Jack cut too deep, severing 2 arteries and causing the kid to briefly pass out from blood loss. They kept on the punishment, even as Kulas' father shouted, "Ring the f*cking bell, he's 17!" The incident almost led to the first ever ECW PPV, Barely Legal, being cancelled. New Jack was charged with assault and sued by the Kulas family, but he was acquitted in both cases.
