10 Times Companies Have Dropped The Ball With Sting

1. Joining The nWo

The entire concept behind the new, darker Sting was that he was almost a superhero, and the only man who could stop the nWo from destroying WCW. He was the saviour, the light at the end of the tunnel, and the only wrestler fans were supposed to be able to rely on. By the Summer of 1998, the heel faction was the coolest thing in the entire company, one split between the more traditional Black & White group, led by Hollywood Hogan, and the hip Wolfpac, led by Kevin Nash. The latter was still technically a heel stable, but fans loved it so much that it immediately made every other WCW babyface look like a dork. By being booked to join the Wolfpac, Sting lost a lot of the mystique he had created only a year prior. This was a big problem with WCW, the heels were significantly more attractive to cheer than the babyfaces, which cut a lot of wrestlers off at the knee. Another injury would end this nWo version of Sting by later in the year, but it was just another example in a long line of others where the character was placed in strange scenarios which didn't really benefit it or the company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n8h2gv7jgc What other Sting moments can you recall where the company sabotaged his popularity?
