10 Times Ego Cost Wrestlers Everything

9. Jean-Pierre LaFitte Won’t Do The Job

Shane McMahon Riddle WWE Royal Rumble 2022
WWE

There's a natural pecking order in wrestling - there always has been, and there always will be. World Champions, rightly or wrongly, exist above everybody else on the card. In WWE, they're closer to Vince McMahon than most others, and the promotion aims to protect them.

So, with that in mind, what the f*ck was Jean-Pierre LaFitte thinking in 1995?

The pirate refused to do the J.O.B for then-WWF Champion Diesel on a house show in Canada. According to LaFitte, the natives would riot if he lost to Kevin Nash. Shawn Michaels wholeheartedly disagreed, and warned his big buddy not to go easy on the former Quebecer.

Their first match went to a double count out, but Diesel got the win 24 hours later in Quebec City. This ludicrous refusal from LaFitte directly led to his departure from the WWF by November '95. He'd raised the ire of the Kliq, and ticked off the office by playing hardball with the champ.
