10 Times Egos Ruined Great Wrestling Partnerships

1. The Mega Powers

In 1988, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage formed a team to combat mutual enemies "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant. Together, they ruled the WWE roost, knocking off the Mega Bucks in the main event of the 1988 SummerSlam show. At the same time, Hogan began paying a little too much attention to Savage's valet Elizabeth. The Macho Man, then-WWE champion, took exception to it and tensions began intensifying between the two. Savage's ego and jealousy combined to make for a lethal cocktail, one that doomed the Mega Powers. By the time WrestleMania V approached, their epic team had disintegrated amidst growing paranoia on the part of the Macho Man. And at the Showcase of the Immortals, Hogan defeated Savage to put the final nail in the coffin of the once-great team. The egos of both men would ultimately undo any team they ever formed after that, be it as babyfaces in WCW or leaders of the New World Order. Savage and Hogan, no matter how successful they appeared, could never set aside their egos long enough to dominate the industry.
