10 Times Great Wrestlers Got Lazy In Big Matches

3. John Cena Vs. Baron Corbin (SummerSlam 2017)

Newsflash: Baron Corbin is a dull professional wrestler.

'The Lone Wolf' has had a handful of enjoyable bouts throughout his career, but he has to be carried, and unfortunately for him, John Cena has never been one to raise the standards of those he wrestles. He's a tremendous big match performer, but the 16-time World Champion usually competes to his opponents' level. If he's in there with an AJ Styles, he'll raise his game, and if he's working with a guy like Corbin, he'll under deliver.

This is partly what happened when they met at SummerSlam 2017, but there was more to it than Cena simply under-performing. 'The Face That Runs The Place' gave the impression of a man who wasn't taking the match seriously at all. He spent almost as much time bantering with Corbin and working the crowd as he did controlling his opponent, like he was actively trying to drag 'The Lone Wolf' down.

John won a dismal encounter after just over 10 minutes. It was a terribly dull way to kick off the second biggest pay-per-view of the year, and one that made Corbin look like a useless fool.
