They love him, and though he would eventually get screwed out of the AWA Championship, the fans KNEW that he was a superstar that the AWA could build around. In all reality, Hogan leaving the AWA at the end of 1983 for the WWF actually screwed the AWA's business plans so badly that the company sputtered and struggled along until their 1990 closure as never quite being as great as they were when all of their fans believed in Hulkamania. Imagine if Hogan had stayed in Minneapolis and was able to provide the AWA a draw who could compete with the NWA having Ric Flair and maybe Vince McMahon attempting to use a combination of maybe Superfly Snuka, Junkyard Dog, Roddy Piper and Randy Savage instead of The Hulkster at the helm.
