The very match that inspired the title of this piece, Andre The Giant vs. Hulk Hogan remains one of WWE's most cherished memories.

The moment when Hogan hit a slam on Andre has been replayed hundreds, if not thousands, of times since 1987. It has be one of the most symbolic moves in wrestling folklore.

There was so much anticipation going into the main event, most people forget that the action wasn't actually too thrilling. In fairness, it didn't need to be, Hogan and Andre could have stared at one another for eternity and the building would have continued shaking. Fans were red hot the showdown.

Hogan's might was up against Andre's considerable girth advantage. Gorilla Monsoon uttered the famous 'the irresistible forces meets the immovable object' line, and the rest was history.

Hogan vs. Andre was the blueprint for all major main event matches going forward, not necessarily in physical size difference, but surely in atmosphere. Recreating this 'Force vs. Force' idea became borderline obsession for WWE.
