10 Times Jim Cornette Got It Absolutely Right

8. The Admonishment Of Jonny Ace

Jim Cornette is not a fan of John Laurinaitis. Nobody else is, according to the former legendary manager. "His own mother slapped the stork that delivered him!"

If you've ever wondered why WWE was - bar the odd flash of inspiration and in-ring aberration - so comprehensively unbearable at the back end of the 2000s and the turn of the 2010s, John Laurinaitis is the foremost culprit.

Laurinaitis was the driving force behind the glamour model approach to WWE Diva recruitment, often compelled to hire women purely on the basis of their still image spread across swimsuit magazine centrefolds. According to some industry legends, he'd often peruse those pages while sat in Hooters' restaurants.

Cornette however principally loathes Laurinaitis for the torment the former Senior Vice President of Talent Relations subjected him to during his time at the helm of WWE's developmental system - which had implications on WWE's product prior to this vaunted NXT era.

Laurinaitis' oft-inexplicable meddling was, in Cornette's words, "constant" - ranging from ring rope disputes to wilful obstruction to tone-deaf attempts at calling up the talents Cornette had painstakingly readied for the main roster.

Laurinaitis, according to Cornette, would disregard everything good about an OVW-seasoned performer and repackage them for reasons his throbbing veins still cannot comprehend.
