10 Times John Cena Got Totally Owned

8. Losing "Biggest Match Of His Life" To The Rock At WrestleMania 28

One year. That's how long the build was for Cena's match against The Rock at WrestleMania 28. It was billed as a "Once in a Lifetime" showdown that took place more than once, but WWE wasn't going to tell us that they planned to do it again. As a result, we went into this one thinking it was a dream match come true. In the buildup to the match, they took a lot of personal shots at each other. For months there were promos between them where Rock mocked how Cena dressed while Cena took shots at Rock for only showing up once in a while instead of all the time like Cena did. Both had valid points. It felt like a real rivalry. During one of Cena's many interviews, he said it was the biggest match of the life. He mentioned that he can't lose it because he put so much effort into winning a match like that. Then he lost clean in the middle of the ring in what was a pretty good match although it wasn't some epic classic either. Still, it was memorable. When a guy spends one whole year talking about how important it is to win one match and then he loses it...that's an example of getting totally owned.
