As Chris Jericho attempted to drive away from a WWE house show in British Columbia, fans swarmed his SUV and blocked the path out. Fed up with the treatment, Jericho exited his car and began verbally assaulting the fans in response to their heckling. After punching
one female fan in the face, a friend of the victim stood up to Jericho and engaged in an f-word-filled exchange that resulted in her receiving a wad of spit in her face. By now the crowd had been well and truly whipped into a riot, and the arrival of security did little to calm matters down as Jericho's head was forced into the door by a fan looking to exact some revenge for Jerichos treatment of the women.
