10 Times Pro Wrestling Got Way Too Real

We working or shooting here?

It has been known for years that wrestling is premeditated entertainment. The matches are not real contests, although the wrestlers do naturally suffer for their art. You don't get slammed on plywood and steel every night without picking up a few injuries here and there. This is not secret to anyone who watches professional wrestling. Because we all know that wrestling is premeditated and scripted, we use it as escapist entertainment the same way that we do when we go to the cinema to see a film. We love to suspend our disbelief and become wrapped up in the drama. Wrestling diverts attention away from your real-life problems and allows you to become immersed in another world filled with over-the-top characters and storylines. Sometimes, however, wrestling can seem very, very real indeed. The shows may be scripted, buy every now and then reality invades fantasy land. Wrestling is a live show and, inevitably, things don't always go according to plan. Wrestlers, fans and promoters can all go into business for themselves and that creates uneasy moments where the viewer is not entirely sure whether what they're watching was supposed to happen or not. Over the years fans have been witness to many of these incidences. Here are ten times when pro wrestling got way too real.
