10 Times Pro Wrestling Got Way Too Real

3. Bully Holly?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW6_0H44aQw Bob 'Hardcore' Holly has a bit of a reputation for being a bully. Holly was never a hazer or a ribber or anything like that but he was definitely a locker-room enforcer and wasn't afraid to throw somebody out of the locker room if they were acting disrespectful. But that's not the main reason why Holly has a reputation for bullying. Holly's reputation mainly stems from working stiff, with one incident in particular sticking out in fans' minds. Holly was a guest trainer during the second season of Tough Enough and was a participant in a multi-person tag match with the rookies. At one point during the match, Holly seemed to be working extra stiff with eventual winner Matt Cappotelli. Holly booted Matt in the ribs, gave him a few harsh clubs on the back and then proceeded to stomp him in the face. Matt got a bloody lip and a black eye and the contestants gave damning testimonials. Why was Holly being so stiff with the young Cappotelli? Wasn't wrestling supposed to be scripted? Well, Holly was just working the same way he worked with everyone ('snug' is the way he describes it). It was just dramatised for the sake of television, with Matt going on television the next day and crying and saying that he wasn't sure if he could continue. In a business like wrestling, with the very serious injuries and surgeries that guys have to endure and even wrestle with, a black eye and a bloody lip is the least of your troubles. Holly gave it but he also took it and has stated many times that he welcomed people giving him receipts because he preferred to work that way. The incident divided opinion, with many complaining that Holly was a bully and took liberties on somebody that he knew wouldn't fight back and others saying that Holly was protecting the business. For some, it was a case of professional wrestling getting way too real.
