Has history been somewhat unkind to Orlando Jordan? If anyone ever feels compelled (as we do once a year or so) to make a list of the worst United States Champions of all time, poor old OJ finds his name sitting pretty near the top. In fact, only a cursory reign for Bret Hart in 2010 stops JBL's right hand man from topping those lists.

Going back to the original question, the answer is no. History has been fairly accurate with Orlando Jordan. With reason, to be honest, as he was clunky as all hell, a product of WWE developmental when it wasn't really allowing performers to develop at all. Jordan won the US Championship from John Cena (of all people), and defended it now and then to the dismay of all watching.

Jordan would eventually drop the title to Chris Benoit, who went on a spree of defeating Jordan in 30 seconds and under. Before that 'hilarious' story however, Jordan and Benoit put on something approaching a good match at the Great American Bash in 2005. It was far and away the best performance of Jordan's WWE career, and when Benoit defeated him so easily at SummerSlam soon after there was even a sense of frustration that the two weren't given the chance to top their work at the Bash.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
